They Overbook

This is the number one reason. A lot of cleaning companies, especially the bigger ones and the app-based ones, book more jobs than they can handle. They figure a certain percentage will cancel, so they overbook to compensate. When nobody cancels, someone gets dropped. That someone is usually you.

They Use Independent Contractors

Many companies, especially the ones you find through apps, do not actually employ their cleaners. They are platforms that connect you with independent contractors. The problem? Those contractors can accept or decline jobs whenever they want. If something better comes along or they just do not feel like it, your cleaning gets canceled.

They Do Not Pay Their People Well

Low pay equals high turnover. If a company is charging you rock-bottom prices, they are paying their cleaners even less. Those cleaners are always looking for something better, and when they find it, they leave. How to Find a Company That Will Not Cancel

Ask if they employ their cleaners directly

Check their reviews for reliability mentions

When you read Google reviews, do not just look at the star rating. Look for words like "reliable," "on time," "never cancels," "consistent." If you see a pattern of people praising a company just for showing up, it tells you two things: the company is reliable, and the bar in this industry is incredibly low.

Ask about their cancellation policy

A good cleaning company will have a clear cancellation policy that goes both ways. We give our clients 24-hour notice if we ever need to reschedule (which is rare). And we ask the same from them. Mutual respect.

Avoid the cheapest option

I know nobody wants to hear this, but the cheapest cleaning company is almost always the least reliable. You do not have to go luxury, but if someone is offering a full house clean for $60 in LA, they are cutting corners. Probably on insurance, probably on wages, and definitely on reliability.

Look for a company with a real person behind it

Can you actually talk to the owner or a manager? Or are you just interacting with a chat bot and an app? When issues come up (and they will eventually, we are all human), you want to be able to reach a real person who will make it right.
